The Texas Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee (TREPAC) has been giving REALTORS® a voice in Texas since 1972. TREPAC is a voluntary, nonprofit organization which receives voluntary investments that are used to support REALTORS® and issues that directly affect property owners in Texas. TREPAC directly impacts the political process to help protect your private-property rights and support the real estate industry.
TREPAC supports strong leaders who will fight for and protect your interests as property owners and business owners together with your communities. Texas currently has over 78 thousand REALTORS® and more than 25 million residents. There are over 920 million acres of farm land in Texas with 2.2 million farms throughout the state. With a state our size, the protection TREPAC provides is essential. It’s easy to see why there are 139 thousand TREPAC investors to date and that number is growing.
What has the Texas Association of REALTORS® Political Action Committee done for you? TREPAC funds have helped defeat multiple proposals to tax real estate, including several bills requiring the creation of a tax on every deed recorded by the county clerk. A measure has also passed that eliminates most private transfer fees on real estate transactions. TREPAC also helped kill legislation that would have levied an eight percent tax on the sale of all real property to include commercial, residential, farm and ranch, industrial and raw land.
The voluntary investments TREPAC receives are used to elect state, local and national candidates and officials who have a history of preserving your private property rights and supporting the real estate industry.
