Mazie Sale Hill blazed a trail for women leaders in real estate. She was elected as the first female President of SABOR (now called Chairman), just one year before the city elected its first female mayor, Lila Cockrell.
She was also the first woman President of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a fierce champion of local businesses and organizations and lent her many talents to serving in other various leadership positions including on the Board of Directors of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Texas REALTORS®, and Sunshine Cottage. She also served as a trustee of the UTSA School of Business and Air Force Village.
She was active in the real estate business for almost 60 years during which time she founded and led Mazie Sale Hill REALTORS® then joined Kuper Realty in 1987 where she was active until shortly before her passing in late 2009. Selected as REALTOR® of the Year in 1970, she also enjoyed many years as a top producer.
Outside the office, she spent time with her husband of 65 years, David Lee “Tex” Hill, who was a World War II fighter pilot and whom she’d married after just 13 days of courtship in 1943. They had four children.
