The City of San Antonio has launched the Renters Commission community-wide survey asking citizens to provide their input based on experiences and feedback related to renter’s issues. They will be using this feedback to help determine the direction and scope of the Renters Commission. City staff is requesting SABOR member’s input and involvement in the survey. The Renters Commission proposal has two stated goals according to the survey: elevate renter’s issues in citywide discussions and increase renter representation on boards and commissions.
Included here is the link to access the online survey. Please note, it will take you about 5 minutes to complete the 23 multiple-choice questions. Once you start the survey and select an answer and click the next button at the bottom of the screen, you cannot go back and change your response.
As this survey will be utilized by City staff and elected officials as a data tool for justification on policy actions moving forward, it is crucial for our members to weigh in on the topic. We will be sending out several rounds of communication to members in the days ahead. I encourage you all to share the link with your colleagues and clients as well. Similar to recent successes with the 60 Day Right to Cure – Call For Action we launched in May, the more members we have participate, the more it will help strengthen our chances of success on the matter. The survey closes on October 15th.
Finally, the City will be looking for volunteers to participate in a series of Focus Groups in October and included in the survey is a space on question #19 for you to input contact information if you are interested in participating in that process.
