Resources for Tenants and Landlords During COVID-19

COVID-19 has put tremendous pressures on everyone including landlords and tenants. With orders from the federal, state and local governments impacting property owners and renters, it can be a challenge to know what to expect as well as the resources available.

With this in mind, we’re providing useful guides and other materials to put this information right at your fingertips. Click the links below to access each resource.

Tenant/Landlord Resources Townhall Webinar Recording

On May 22, we co-hosted a webinar featuring a presentation from Lori Houston, Assistant City Manager for the City of San Antonio. She covered the eviction protections, tenant resources, temporary moratorium restrictions, protections under the CARES Act, and more.

A special thank you to the following organizations who partnered with us for this presentation: City of San Antonio, San Antonio Apartment Association, Real Estate Council of San Antonio, and the San Antonio chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers.

About the City of San Antonio’s Emergency Housing Assistance Program

This program helps families pay rent, mortgage, utilities and internet bills by paying the landlord, financial institution, internet provider and utility provider directly. It also provides assistance to purchase groceries, gas and medicine as they cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Click here for a flyer about the program that you can share with your tenants.

After a landlord or property manager applies for assistance through the program, they will need to be on the lookout for emails from NoReply@sanantonio.gov. Landlords and property managers will get an email from this address informing them that the City has received an application from a tenant in their property. They will also receive an email from the address to verify that the amount owed is the correct amount. This email may be filtered as spam.

To participate, landlords and property managers will need to complete and send in the vendor registration form. They must register as a vendor with the City in order for the City to process their payment. Once the form is completed, it will need to be submitted to NHSDFiscal@sanantonio.gov for processing. The vendor form as well as additional information on the program can be found by clicking here.

We hope these resources provide some much-needed assistance and guidance during this time.
