The board of directors of the San Antonio Board of REALTORS® (SABOR) voted Wednesday, September 5 to terminate the contract of CEO Shane Johnson. SABOR conducted a nationwide search for a CEO that started in 2017. The board also voted to enter into negotiations with the other finalist from this search process.
SABOR conducted a thorough, nationwide search process to find qualified candidates to fill the position of CEO. The organization worked with a nationally recognized executive recruiter to lead a six-month search that cast a wide net and resulted in a list of more than 75 potential candidates. The SABOR CEO Search Committee interviewed eight of these candidates, and the decision came down to two finalists.
Over the past two months, it became evident to SABOR board and staff that Mr. Johnson and the organization had different visions about SABOR’s future and its mission. The board and its officers determined that a swift decision was necessary to ensure the least amount of disruption to our members and the ongoing mission of SABOR.
It is the board’s responsibility to its 11,000 REALTOR® members that this organization have a CEO who can best carry out its mission to educate and advocate to the public on real estate issues. With its decision, the board committed to move forward with a new CEO, understanding the importance of cohesiveness and collaboration in all efforts that pertain to the management and success of SABOR.
